My key to staying Healthy around the Holidays

My key to staying Healthy around the Holidays

Hello everyone :) My new favorite way to create and connect with you all. I have never been known to be a huge writer but this entire experience has me wanting to write a whole book LOL.

Today is the day before Thanksgiving and I wanted to take this time to share my mindset and routine around staying healthy throughout the Holidays. As someone who has been in a place before where they workout extra to consume extra food, I know that mindset isn't healthy and feasible in the long run. For the first time in my life I feel like the past year I really have come into a place with my routine, food, and health that feels aligned and without stress or worry about what I am consuming and when. A lot of this has to do with my relationship and my environment, but it also has been a product of a lot of inner work and letting go along the way. I can talk about that story on a whole new blog post, but the Holidays can be a time of pressure within family dynamics, relationships, and around food. I have always enjoyed eating and cooking, it has been a creative outlet for me and an opportunity to connect with friends along the way.

The very first thing I do is acknowledge that the Holidays are a temporary time of enjoyment and indulging in foods you probably aren't eating on a consistent basis. I have always subscribed to the "everything in moderation" rule, because I feel when you restrict certain things it has an even more negative effect than just consumption(my personal opinion). Now that is easier said than done, but I think looking at it as a moment in time, and to enjoy and be with the people you love can lesson the mental toll or stress that comes along with it.

The second thing I come back to is my "why" for eating healthy. I have always been driven by the way it makes me feel both mentally and physically. I still remember the time I changed my diet in high school and noticed a significant difference in my confidence, my energy levels, and the way I performed in sports/workouts. With that mindset, it helps me stay away from things that truly do NOT make me feel good without guilt. If I want a cookie I will eat it and move on. If there are people in your life who comment on the way you eat, I always just acknowledge that is a reflection of something that is in them and I move on. I am NOT about peer pressure, thank you next.

The third, I stick to the routine I have currently. I do my daily meditations, go on walks, take a yoga class, and stay as close as I can to the routine I have when I am at home. When you come back to the habits you have each and everyday It makes it a lot easier for you to deal with the constant change around you. If you haven't been convinced yet, this is your sign to meditate.

The final thing I always say, is remain in gratitude for what you do have. The people, the food, the career, the relationship, etc that is in your life during the Holiday season. Whether you celebrate or not, gratitude is a magnet for the miracles you want in your life. Gratitude and fear cannot exist at the same time, so when you shift from fear to gratitude you are in that moment shifting your entire ENRGI field.

I hope this helps. It's simple, but I am simple-minded and believe the more simple we make life the easier it is for us all. With love and light, Erin :)
